Sunrise Stars & Stripes is a community service project of the Rotary Club of Rio Rancho Sunrise.
The Rotary Club of Rio Rancho Sunrise invites you to join your friends and neighbors in displaying the American Flag on the five major holidays of Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Veterans Day.
The flags give Rio Rancho and NW Albuquerque residents an opportunity to display their patriotic spirit, pride and love for our country. Your support also helps the Rotary Club of Rio Rancho Sunrise the opportunity to provide health, humanitarian and youth service programs throughout our community and the world.
Our goal is to cover Rio Rancho and NW Albuquerque in flags for these important holidays. Our initial coverage is from Unser east to Rio Rancho Blvd and north to Southern Blvd. We are also working in NW Albuquerque in selected neighborhoods. We will assess our coverage after each holiday and adjust accordingly as the year progresses.
Since 2007, the Rotary Club of Rio Rancho Sunrise has supported our community both locally and internationally. Some of our projects include a yearly scholarship for nursing students, building a playground at the Boys and Girls Club, donations to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, DECA, and AVID programs, monthly recognition of public school teachers and students, support for international youth exchange, book grants to local schools, helping with Seeds to Needs Gardening Project, sending Rio Rancho and Cleveland High School students to camp RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award), supporting clean water projects in Guatemala, and many others. You will help us with projects and programs just like these by supporting the on-going Flag Lease Program in Rio Rancho!
When you order a flag lease, we will insert a small PVC plastic sleeve with a cap in the ground near your front curb or sidewalk. No brackets or fixtures are attached to your home. On each of the five holidays, a 3’ x 5’ made-in-America U.S. flag mounted on a 10-foot metal pole will be placed in the sleeve. We display the flags, store, and maintain them - it is all done for you! The flags remain the property of the Rotary Club of Rio Rancho Sunrise.
Flag Care: Please place the Flag on your porch each night and during inclement weather, and put it out again in the morning. The flag should fly “rain or shine” on the day of the scheduled pick up; however, if it is raining, the flag pickup will be delayed to allow the flag to dry before it is rolled for storage.
For your business, the first day will be the weekday before the holiday and the last day will be the weekday after the holiday. We will pick it up and drop it off every day (except Sunday)'
You can lease a flag for $10 per holiday OR you can sign up for the Annual Flag Lease- $45.00 for all five flag holidays! Please sign up at least one week before the drop-off date.
